Summary
24 pages of autograph poetry, sentiments, good wishes, and signatures by members of the Brentano, Arnim, and Goethe family circles, including an unidentified stanza signed by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and good wishes from Jacob Grimm. Most entries were penned in Frankfurt or Weimar and are dated 1832, though one is dated 1798 and one is dated 1837. With 56 engravings, lithographs, drawings, watercolors, and pages of cutouts. Most illustrations are portraits, some are allegories, and a few are of buildings or religious subjects. Many prints are trimmed; one drawing of a woman at an easel is signed Brentano, another drawing is signed "E.L."; cutouts are primarily of animals, including birds, donkeys, cows, and an ostrich; one cutout shows a man fleeing a fantastic snake. The key to the volume, with the original tag, is mounted on fol. 216r.
