Summary
Concerning his request for any letters her husband might have kept from Principal Shairp; apologizing for the delay in her reply but explaining that her daughter had been ill; saying "...my dear husband did not keep letters as a rule - neither did he correspond regularly with any one out of his own immediate family;" thanking him for his expression of sympathy "...in my great sorrow. I am sure you can understand all that has gone out of my life with my husband. I cannot write about it - I can only say the sense of loss seems to deepen & increase, if possible, as time goes on."
