Summary
Concerning the need for provisions for "a party of about 300 Men ordered to be stationed in Monmouth County;" telling him that "There is plenty of flower to be had in that County which if purchased there will Save Cartage beef pork & mutton is likewise plenty there. an Issuing Commissary is to attend this party and if he is well Chosen, he may do the busyness of purchasing also and will Save the Expence of having another person for that purpose. however does the busyness I must request you will direct to send up to head Quarters weekly a load or two of Oysters and fish such as Cod, bass or white pearch which are to be had in plenty at black point and [illegible] in the neighbourhood of Tinton falls. he might also send up weekly a parcel of mutton (for which that County is remarkable) for the table of the General Officers. I must desire you will order some proper person (a good butcher) to purchase Veal Mutton Poultry & Vegetables for the tables of the Gen'l Officers."
