Addressed, with remnants of a seal, to: "Daniel McKercher Esqr. / at his House at / Mill Bank." Boyse also gives the place of writing as "Mill Bank." Millbank is an area in central London, in the City of Westminster, where MacKercher is known to have lived.

With a note in an unknown hand, near the docketing: "Printed in the / European Magazine / for July 1788."
An introductory paragraph in the July 1788 issue of the European Magazine identifies the recipient of the letter as Daniel MacKercher (1702-1772), a Scottish solicitor involved in the Annesley Case.
