Replying angrily to her letter telling him that her friends have "blamed and abused" him for his recent reading of Hamlet at the Theatre Royal in Liverpool from November 30 - December 14 [1870]; , explaining how he'd laid out to her very carefully before she booked him what the expenses would be and quoting from her reply to his proposal accepting the terms of their business agreement; expressing his indignation at the "graceless and thankless" usage of him, and noting that his total profit for eleven days in Liverpool was £14.
