Summary
Expressing his concern that his last two letters have miscarried; reporting that [George] Washington has detained him to "command the recruits of this State"; speculating that they are being held in Carlisle because of Washington's "expectation of the evacuation of Charlestown"; saying that he is anxious to join Greene "as [his] health is perfectly stable & [he is] most heartily tired of loitering while [his] friends are in the field."
