Many of them are [illegible] even in adversity, but if the proper use is made of them, they may do us real Service. La Chatre's Corps [Régiment Loyal-Émigrant] is now as good a Regiment as any in the allied army. Brave & intelligent;" commenting on the lack of sufficient troop strength.
