Summary
Requesting that the recruits to the 48th Regiment be added to his command of the 26th; relating his understanding that the 26th Regiment would remain in America and setting forth his understanding of the movements of the recruits in England and Ireland; requesting "...to have the recruits belonging to the 48th Reg't turned over to mine. - the cloathing, arms, & accoutrements for these are sett out, and I hope, will overtake them, before they sail. The cloathing, arms, and accoutrements, for my own hundred, will be at Portsmouth, before it is possible for them to arrive there themselves - . and your Lordship may depend on it, that at least 300 more suits of cloathing &c &c shall be sent out along with the last - and I hope all the accoutrements will be ready - by the time they sail - orders are given for hurrying them. I have now only to ask the favor of your Lordship to acquaint the King - of what has been done and is doing - and to add that nothing on my part, shall be omitted, that can render the 26th compleat, and fitt for the important Service they are employed in."
