Concerning his assignment in light of the death of General Barrington; saying "I hear for certain General Barrington is dead, but after having received His Majesty's Command for Jamaica, I am in Honour precluded, from solliciting an exchange even to an older regiment; however, if you should think otherways, I am in good Hands. at all Events, I sett out tomorrow at day Break, for Portsmouth. Accept of thanks from a sincere Heart, and do as you please-. I go without one grievance."
