Thanking him for his recent contribution of "Mr. B. and Mr. N" (i.e. Mr. Burns and Mr. Norwood, published in issue September 7, 1889 of the Scots Observer), and remarking that "Everybody is delighted with it; & indeed it is one of the best things you have let me have"; asking him if "this new turn in the strike" (a reference to the London Dock Strike of 1889), including the intervention of Henry Edward (Manning) and the actions of (John) Burns and (Ben) Tillett would be "worth a short article".
