Summary
Writing that he "cannot get up the slightest interest in any of these Jubilee gatherings" and would be "more inclined to give to the playstow or anything else in the 49th year or the 51st.", noting, however, that he cannot ignore entirely something which has Hervey's support, and sending a small sum to be divided "between the playstow and the rejoicing."; stating that "Sicily has sent me back wonderfully better" and mentioning an "11th cent. life of Saint Philaretes, which enlarges on the air of Sicily, and it is all true, specially at Syracuse."
