"Earl of Moira" was a Royal Navy ship upon which members of the Royal Nova Scotia Regiment served (Collections of the Nova Scotia Historical Society, vol. XX [Halifax, 1921], p. 171). Captain Jones Fawson of the RNSR commanded these marines (ibid, pp. 39, 171).

Informing him of travel plans for himself and military personnel, including the married soldiers and their families of a particular company; discussing movement of "the Earl of Moira" coming from "her cruize" and proceeding immediately to Quebec; hoping Wentworth will give "[Captain] Fawson directions to make all possible expedition in getting ready for sea, as the season is advancing rapidly" and "the company" on their arrival in Quebec will require "a considerable time" before reaching "the head Quarters of the Regt. at St John's."
