Enclosing "to you Lord Dorchester's answer to my Letter by which you will perceive that the old Peer has acted in the handsomest & most liberal manner possible"; reporting that "[h]is Lordship" told someone "he has reason to conceive my return to England was intended by his Majesty; but how far his Ideas on this subject are or are not founded [...] we shall learn by the arrival of" a particular packet-ship; reporting "I am to take upon myself the Command of the troops in Nova Scotia if I think proper" but will not come to a decision until conferring with Wentworth "as in every thing else in which you are a party concerned"; conveying "that nothing can give me greater pleasure than to find an opportunity of doing any thing which may be agreeable to you"; informing that "Mr. Smyth returns to Halifax, for the purpose of being there when my Boat arrives" and "will probably be with you by Thursday Night"; referring Wentworth to Smyth "for the news from Quebec."
