Summary
Acknowledging a letter and commenting on the interesting research he will be engaged in on the three topics "Edgar Allan Poe", "Chicago", and "Seven daughters of the theater"; writing that she is sorry that Lillian Gish's report on her health should worry him, and attributing Gish's unusual concern for her as the result of their long and close friendship; going on to remark that "Lillian is truly a remarkable person - still dedicated to her first love, the theatre", informing him that Gish was there for a week in June to appear in a television episode and came over for dinner, and enclosing a picture taken on that occasion; writing that she and Buddy returned from Canada on May 26, and have since hosted "a succession of house guests", including Dr. Hsin-Hai and his wife Rosalind, Inez Wallace, and Gwynne Ornstein and her daughter Mary; commenting on the progress made by his son (and her godson) Robert towards a librarianship at Winchester and express the hope that his other son David will be happy attending Boston University.
