Responding that she is pleased to hear that he "had such a good visit with my old friends at Eastman House"; confirming that she would like to read his chapter about her (from his book "Movies in the age of innocence") before it goes to press; sending him the address of Mary Miles Minter; clarifying the history and relationship between Artcraft, Famous Players, and Paramount, and stating that Artcraft was formed in January-June of 1916, "for the sole purpose of selling my pictures", and adding "I had complete control of production as I had from the years previous, choice of story, director and cast"; noting that she was intended to have control of distribution, but this did not prove to be the case, and she subsequently declined to renew her contract with Zukor in 1918; explaining that Paramount was formed by a merger of Famous Players Company (to whom she was under contract) and Jesse Lasky Company, and that "anyone who wished to distribute their films through Artcraft had to have my consent."
