Summary
Telling him "Ved is here" and saying he has been peppering her with questions about the current state of India; describing recent demonstrations in Delhi that ended with tear gas; commenting on Ivory's observations about the Hamptons, Newport, and Martha's Vineyard-- "[Y]our strong and aching[?] sense of place-- makes it so clear how tremendously ready you are at this moment to do not one but a whole series of American films"; mentioning Henry James and Fitzgerald as potential authors to adapt; observing after reading a piece on "The Great Gatsby" film in Newsweek-- "a most unrevealing, flat foolish piece"-- that Ivory's proposed "Talk of the Town" article on it would be much superior; wondering how "Siddhartha" is doing, and observing pessimistically that the people who loved the book are not necessarily going to love the movie.
