Summary
Discussing Ivory's recent comments on "the Princess film" treatment; describing a scandal involving a stolen Indian temple statue now in the possession of American collector Norton Simon; commiserating with Ivory over the loss of "The Bell Jar" as a property, and over money lost to Lillian Ross; trying to offer Ivory some comfort in the midst of "one of those interim periods for you where there is nothing to do except hold on and wait for better times"; asking about Pauline Kael and Joe Saleh; observing that her book "A New Dominion"--published in the U.S. as "Travelers"-- is out on June 6 and Harpers has sent her author's copies to India, which is fine since "you & Ismail already have copies, & so do Ved & Wally, & Nana of course"; recounting the tale of a mysterious Sacher torte that arrived by mail, with "no indication to show who sent it"-- "so whom shall I think of and bless a thousand times while eating it but you..."; wishing Poji [Firoza] was there to help her eat it, but she is currently trekking in Darjeeling.
