Telling her he is "quite too drunk to write sensibly just now" after a "boistrous dinner" with Merchant, Rita [Mangat?], and Mark; describing Merchant making Jean Pierre [Mahot, a producer on "Quartet"] sign "all sorts of dread documents" while Ian Smyth looks on "murmuring very English things in the background to intimidate him"; asking her to deposit the check from Filmways-- "(Yes!)"; relating a story from Jeremiah about how Ivory's tenant Julie Taylor has been keeping bags of sand in her freezer and rubber-banded to the thermostat; noting that "[i]t gives me such pleasure to use one of Tony's [Korner's] envelopes."
