Summary
Saying that she was unaware that he had been in Paris and was not expecting to receive news of him from England. According to what he wrote her, she believes that he is soon to return to France and that she will have the pleasure of seeing him. Gives him suggestions for times. She is in St-Germain. She sees an unfortunate child every day, which causes her great distress. His parents remain very hopeful. She says: "How many steps forward since your departure, and what an extraordinary position to be in to see a country go in circles about what it knows it needs without daring to admit it to itself or, consequently, to ask for it."
