Summary
Writing that she arrived late owing to the failure of "the quad" to show up at Brakenhurst, and describing the assistance she received from an "elderly official" to reach her destination; describing dinner with the Patmore's following her arrival, noting "Mrs. Patmore looks as before, Bertha also, Gertrude lean and haggard, a sort of battered look, difficult to describe. Piffie much improved, and Mr. Patmore much older ... he was very glum and growly too", with further observations on the antisocial conduct of Mr. (Coventry) Patmore towards his guests; noting that Mr. Patmore and "Piffie" made a great deal of noise before retiring the night before, that her bed was uncomfortable, and that she is consequently very tired; recounting her day at the Patmore's, looking at the garden and visiting with Mrs. Patmore, writing that she declined to go out on "the boat", and requesting that her sister send her a few items from home.
