Summary
Commenting on the last letter she received from her sister, advising her to never again travel without a flannel gown, expressing sympathy for her rheumatism and anxiety over sending her letters "unsealed or sealed with a button" for fear of prying; discussing some difficulties with the domestic, Annie Warner, who claimed the place was too hard for her and who threatened to leave until she was told she would receive no money; mentioning a letter from "Annie V" (i.e. Annie Vizetelly) and a visit with Mrs. De Morgan, who she remarks has grown to strongly resemble "Miss Mary De Morgan", discussing the family's vacation plans and observing that "Miss Mary appears uglier than ever in her own style", going on to relate what unpleasant company she finds Mary to be ("what a fearful bore these profound people are how horridly unoriginal ... she reduces everything to a scraped bone state, it is wonderful how a woman can be guilty of any such ugliness"); sending love to the Patmore's and stating that she has heard nothing from the Barries.
