Summary
Telling her that it would better for her to remain at Bournemouth as the weather where she is has been rainy; discussing the selection of presents for members of the household and mentioning that (their brother) Edgar "thinks of working steadily" at the "German papers", adding "but say nothing of this in your letter because it is not settled yet"; informing her that they are to have "another batch of books to-morrow morning to be finished by Wednesday morning, which is pretty quick work but not more than will be needed I fancy"; mentioning that she has not seen Mrs. De Morgan "since I wrote to you about the secretaryship" and remarking that she is probably offended with her for passing on their conversation; mentioning other acquaintances, including the Annie Vizetelly, whose brother (Edward Vizetelly) has returned to England from Egypt under an assumed name following "a disgraceful libel case", and adding "The father Vizetelly [i.e. Henry Vizetelly] refused to see him, but paid his hotel bills, - those sons of his seem to think the old man exists mainly to pay their debts."; discussing Kate's return and asking if she would like Jessy to buy her some briquets in Bristol.
