Observing that "That lecture of Oscar Wylde's [sic] must have been delightfully funny ... what a fearful waste that man makes of everything except his fantasticallities doesn't he?"; stating that she is "annoyed and indignant" about something, but doesn't wish to write about it as she doesn't know if her sister reads her letters in privacy; expressing her anxiety over Kate's health and asking if she would like more medicine or something to shut out the sounds of the household; mentioning "Colonel Newcombe", playing whist, and visits with friends and acquaintances, and stating that nothing further has heard of Mr. Trollope; discussing a story she has revised and intends to submit for publication, noting that her father has "depressed me considerably about it" and suggested that it might not be good for "Sunday at Home"; mentioning Cassels as a possible publisher, along with the names of other periodicals she is considering sending the story to; noting that "Father says I might say something about my father the editor, but I incline to let it fail or succeed on its own merits"; discussing household matters, the cost of utilities, etc.
