Summary
Asking after her health and her recent outing to the theater, commiserating with her over a dress that was badly made, asking if "Jennie" liked the opera and how long she stayed, writing that she expects to return home next week and that "Louise" will not be coming with her; mentioning Harry Holt and visits with "Alice", "Nellie", Mr. Wakefield, and others; describing a visit to a steamer "starting for America" and a woman with a hat decorated with two stuffed mice; writing that they went to see (the mentalist) Mr. Stuart Cumberland, who "exposed various spiritualistic tricks very cleverly", and remarking that there were spiritualists present who "resented this very much, becoming very angry and interfering at one time I thought there would be a general scrimmage"; sending her regards to various friends and discussing mutual acquaintances, including the news that "Mr. Poole is to act in Liverpool to-morrow."
