Summary
Informing her that she and (their brother) Edgar have sent her a packet; noting that "Mrs. Holt" is in the kitchen, and complaining of the difficulty of writing letters when she is in the room; observing that "Miss Irene Heaton has not made an appearance yet", although it is Mr. Holt's birthday, and adding "Nothing good has been said of her ... it is absurd to suppose that any sensible fairly educated man could have fallen in love with the Irene described to me, I don't believe it, and have made up my mind to be most amiable, and judge for myself."; mentioning an unwelcome communication from "Pollie" and stating that "I didn't want her to know I was here"; continuing with news of family and mutual acquaintances.
