Summary
Beginning this letter on the 16th when Wagenknecht's of the 13th arrived; relaying to David "that R.J. Thompson was not six but positively EIGHT this last July" and discussing his writing and misspellings; expressing astonishment at the process required "to send a few dollars ot an old friend in America" which includes and interview at the bank and forms; requesting to "see the final paper on Dickens" and saying "I am not a fan of S.M."; praising and delighting in Wagenknecht's introduction; editing the introduction; replying to "A.K. and the copy of the letter from him which has just reached me" and not being able to get dates required; wondering about the copyright of the stories published by Knopf and Macmillan; saying that he doesn't have access to his contract at Twickenham; suggesting they consult the Secretary of the Authors' Society; recieving letter from the 16th on the 20th; discussing serial publication of the selected stories in England and America; saying "On the 3rd I retire into hospital for I hope not more than ten days"; wishing to entertain Wagenknecht in his garden.
