Letter from John Richardson Major, London, to Thomas Cadell, 1835 June 2 : autograph manuscript signed.

Writing to suggest that a "very useful summary might be formed from the Roman Antiquities ... for the Junior Classes" by "omitting references of a recondite kind" from the text and arranging it in a "more attractive form". With notes by Cadell on the third page of the letter, dated October 17, stating that he conferred with Major regarding the proposed summary (of Alexander Adam's Roman antiquities) who thought he should be able to shortly provide a table of contents and portion of the work; with another note concerning the number and nature of wood engraved illustrations the work might need.
