Summary
Expecting that he has "given up even thinking of this, your most dismal of all of your correspondents" and mentioning an unfinished letter from August 10 in response to one from the 5th referencing the "Tribute"; discussing "the Christian and Catholic idea of Man and the Universe", good and evil, pagan beliefs; discussing a possivle collection of stories with Knopf and mentioning collections previously published in England; saying sorry that a collection of Henry James stories did not work out, but looking forward to reading his short stories; asking about American literary magazines; closing with comment on "three weeks of various and flawless weather"; adding "Forgive me for being so dilatory and so lazy over the pub's question" and needing to consult contracts at Penn to answer "'eminently practical' questions" but would "rejoice most heartily if A.K. will follow your suggestion."
