Aerogramme addressed to Mrs. R. Prawer Jhabvala, 1-A Flagstaff Road, Delhi 6, India, and postmarked January 13, 1974.
Thanking her for her three letters on "The Wild Party" [see MA 23840.1221], which Merchant forwarded to him in California-- "What you say is very useful and I'm grateful to have it"; elaborating on his thoughts and ideas for the project, including changing the name of the leading man to "Dale Sword"; reassuring her that "I've worked out the 'massacre' at the end for myself so that the right people can be killed in the right way and have it be believable"; imagining the real-life scene of enraged crowds hauling a highly flammable nitrate print of a Fatty Arbuckle film out into the street and setting it on fire.
