Summary
Apologizing for being "an execrable correspondent" and wondering how it has been so long since he set aside August 11 letter; saying he is too late to make any suggestions to "Six Novels of the Supernatural"; looking "forward very much to seeing your two chapters of the new Cavalcade. Hawthorne and Willa Cather interest me."; looking forward to his review of Love; saying it was "immensely kind of you have suggested me for the Walker-Ames professorship at the University of Washington" but feels he is "much too old now for these excursions"; saying he has been "atrociously indolent" but has a few poems and "a sort of narrative thing of well over four hundred lines in four-line stanzas."
