Summary
Thanking Wagenknecht for his letter and "glad to hear that your history of the novel is steadily progressing"; discussing progress on his own anthology "on Dreams, Sleep and similar subjects" and an accompanying introduction; saying "how much pleasure your much too generous review of Memory gave me"; apologizing for delay in writing on "Some Thoughts on Reading" and saying that the original letter was lost when his Secretary left; thinking that a limited edition came out "some years ago in England"; supposing a limited edition in America would not "preclude the essay appearing in the usual way" even though there is not "immediate chance of this" so he "should be delighted if you would make use of it inthe Series you mention"; wishing him a happy New Year.
