Sketchbook containing a series of historical costume studies, several of them executed on tracing paper and mounted onto the leaves of the sketchbook; also included are a series of sketches for illustrations for Richard Brinsley Sheridan's "The rivals", binding designs for an edition of Isaak Walton's "The Compleat angler", and sketches for illustrations for "Tom Brown's school days" by Thomas Hughes, with many of the drawings throughout the volume are dated 1895; Sullivan later employed the the sketchbook for drafts of letters and poetry, dated 1917-1918, inverting the volume and recommencing it from the other side.
