Summary
Enclosing the forms she said she was sending to support Renana's application to Radcliffe [see MA 23840.964], with detailed instructions and a second copy for Ved to fill out; deciding that it's time to write again to Filmways, and asking for more copies of her first letter and letters from the Authors' Guild to make a file of the correspondence; claiming that she was mistaken when she "cabled you rather jauntily" that Merchant was returning soon [see MA 23840.971], and admitting she has no idea where he is; hoping she will know by the time Ivory gets this letter, and feeling concerned because his last known destination, Bikaner, is uncomfortably close to where the fighting is; telling him she telephoned Bombay yesterday and they said they were expecting him that day, but she has heard nothing more; admitting to some anxiety-- "Every time the phone rings I jump"; saying she will write again as soon as she hears from him, but "[m]eanwhile-- well, everything is so dark, so dark, in every possible way."
