Summary
Noting that she already sent him a letter today but she has just spoken to Merchant on the telephone from Udaipur; passing on Merchant's plans to go to Bikaner, then Delhi, then Bombay, then home to New York with a stop in London on the way; relating that Merchant was anxious to hear how Ivory was, and that he "sounded very cheerful and well and said Jaisalmer was fantastic" and suggested making a film there; telling him that "Begum Akhtar is singing in Delhi on the 29th and he [Merchant] wants to come and film her performance"; pointing out that "actually, that night Delhi is having another trial black-out (no one is sure whether we are at war or not at war) so they might all be plunged in the dark. But I want to go along too."
