Summary
Thanking Wagenknecht for his suggestions to the pastiche, and saying he will make the adjustments as soon as he can; mentioning he is currently working on another pastiche, but that will be his last for the year; mentioning that along with Emerson, he is rereading Thomas Hardy's "Woodlanders"; saying he returns to Hardy continually; telling Wagenknecht to see "Far from the Madding Crowd" if he hasn't already; writing that Julie Christie is miscast "but then, she is miscast in virtually everything because she never escapes being Julie Christie" but the picture itself is a sound adaptation; noting that the Illinois stamp is coincidentally designed by the first illustrator for one of his first novels in 1935 called "Place of Hawks."
