Summary
Telling her it is rainy and cold in New York and he is taking the opportunity to clean out the apartment; describing in detail his cleaning and sorting procedures and the things he is finding; describing the many "chores" he has accomplished, among them reading "Wally's plays and they have been returned to Mr. Shawn via Ved," sending letters and photographs to various people, taking "care of Jhab", collating information from Jhabvala's brother Siegbert and writing to Radcliffe about Renana; confirming that Nirad Chaudhuri will indeed be going to Texas and provoding details of the arrangement; discussing composer Joe Riposo and his work scoring "Savages," which Ivory is very happy with; observing that Riposo looks like Jaikishan, and how, back a few years, Lillian had recommended him to score "Vertical and Horizontal"; announcing "I've heard at last from Ismail, after two weeks of silence except for a telegram at Id"; saying with some concern that Merchant "has a new film to make in Jodhpur," to be financed by the "new, young, Oxford educated, with-it maharaja"; telling her she may have to "get the lace cloth out" to entertain the maharaja.
