Summary
Attributing the change in his prolific writing and publishing habits to rauvolfia, the herb he takes to manage his hypertension; writing that the medication has "impaired both my memory and my creative drive"; mentioning that these symptoms, combined with his relative financial instability, has made it difficult to get many new projects out of the beginning stages; updating Wagenknecht on the progress of his title "Walden West," which will be completed in the next year; expressing disappointment that an editorial decision led to his most recent anthology being retitled from "The Best Fantastic Stories of 1954" to "Portals of Tomorrow"; complaining that this change truncates the possibility of releasing an anthology of best fantastic fiction every year; saying he has put in a request to review Wagenknecht's forthcoming book on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; responding that no, he seldom purchases early comic books anymore, but he hopes he can still pursue his monolith on the subject when his economic situation improves.
