Summary
Telling Merchant that he is sending back the key to Merchant and Ivory's apartment in New York, "which I inadvertently brought back with me"; reminding him to return a print of Ray's film "Abhijan" to India; thanking Merchant for his help and hospitality in New York (where Ray stayed with Merchant and Ivory in 1966), and saying they no longer owe him anything for his help on "Shakespeare Wallah"; saying "the Round Table chaps" did a good job on "the premiere"; telling Merchant that he is working on "the detective story now, which has absolutely taken on the epic proportions of Pather Panchali," and has received a letter from renowned American cinematographer Haskell Wexler, offering to work for Ray for free; asking when the New Yorker piece Ivory wrote about Ray will be appearing; saying Newsweek gave a positive review of Ray's film "Mahanagar."
