Summary
Stating that he has received the manuscript [of Wagenknecht's Mark Twain book] but that he is "far from a well man, and cannot even look at it yet"; offering to show him a typed copy of Mark Twain's diaries and suggesting that he might be able to arrange permissions to use extracts from the unpublished letters; stating there are few unpublished Mark Twain manuscripts that would be of value and that those that were thrown out "were not thrown out for any reason except that of triviality"; promising to read Wagenknecht's manuscript; stating that he has not seen Lillian Gish since his return from Florida, that her "last play was poor' but that she "was of course very lovely in it."
