Summary
Writing that she is happy to hear that he has finished his Cavalcade of the American novel, that she has not read Mr. Biancolli's book on Mary Pickford, and that Pickford herself is in California making tests for a film thats starts in April; remarking that he may have seen the televised production of Philip Barry's play "The joyous season" on December 26, directed by Alex Segal and adapted by Maxwell Anderson and Philip Barry (jr.), and noting that it kept her busy before Christmas and that they "were on camera fourteen hours the 26th" and that the actors were exhausted; informing him that she has no "TV agent", as Mal Boyd has left television to study for the Episcopalian ministry, and in consequence she has no agent's fee to pay for "The joyous season"; adding that "one has to be very careful of the material on TV" and that she and her sister Dorothy "refuse nine out of ten offers as so much of it is inferior."; announcing that the "most exciting thing to come to New York this year" is "Don Juan in Hell", and listing the names of some shows she did not like; writing that "The two women's parts in the Capote play [i.e. "The grass harp"] are most unequal", and they are having trouble over the salaries as well as other doubts about the venture.
