Summary
Writing that she received his letter while rehearsing in Dodie Smith's "Dear octopus", which has been running successfully in London while thier own production has not met with success in New York; stating that she has been "thinking a great deal about your ideas for doing a book" and that she has come to the conclusion that it would require "weeks and months" with "trunks full of letters and papers" to write, while she currently can "hardly get fifteen minutes to sit down and write a note in long hand.", adding that she also feels that is "just coming of age in the theatre" and would like to accomplish "something of real importance" to provide a "good excuse" to read her life story; urging him to pursue his idea of writing a biography of D.W. Griffith.
