Summary
Calling attention to Merchant and Subrata Mitra's tendency to "go on about their moods. For instance, if you say or do anything to disturb their peace of mind or equanimity, they growl that their mood has been spoiled"; saying he would like to use this trait in the Ustad film ["The Guru"], for the Ustad's character; announcing that he has been assigned a Talk of the Town piece on Satyajit Ray by Mr. Shawn; describing how, during their recent visit to his elderly friend Alida, Merchant described the alleged experiences of his grandmother ("this imaginary grandmother") to convince Alida to allow a nurse to work for her; describing in detail watching news footage of riots outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi. A note on the back of the aerogramme announces "Dorothy Strelsin was on "Girl Talk" this morning, holding forth on the Nature of Friendship."
