Reminiscing about a previous meeting durng which they discussed her "weird film past" and his "really fine achievements". Speculating about the satisfaction of being a writer. Recalling the name of an author that had previously escaped her mind: Stefan Zweig. Reflecting on Zweig's suicide "upon the invasion of his beloved Austria". Apologizing for the long delay in answering his last letter. Expressing fear about the atomic bomb and hoping that "the good expected of it will ... counteract its horror." Stating she has not yet heard from "Miss Barry".
