Summary
Confirming that he has received her two telegrams and is still waiting for the musical notation and a letter about the idea he proposed for titles to accompany three "chapters" of the film; affirming that "Zia [Mohyeddin] isn't anywhere up to Shashi [Kapoor] and Jennifer [Kendal], and does not deserve to be on the same title card with them--yet in terms of the story of the film he does"; telling her that they have been able to resolve two of three issues with the dialogue he had previously discussed with her; marveling at the power of dubbing to "alter the whole tone of a performance", after giving an example where Kendal was able to change the inflection she used to deliver a particular line; recounting his last meeting with Jaikishan about the music, which he is not satisfied with ("I'd hoped he hear his mistakes, be aware of the lack of variety in tempo and orchestration"); despairing at his current situation and the willingness he perceives of the people around him to "accept something third-rate".
