Summary
Thanking Ivory and Merchant for their letter and some enclosed photographs of Ruth, Jhab, and the cast of "Shakespeare Wallah"; observing that "Cyrus" (Jhab) looks "splendid" and in one photo Ruth looks pretty and sophisticated-- in another photo, taken in Deeg Palace, however, "she does not look pretty at all"; saying at her first glance of the Deeg photo she started to cry, because Ruth looks "rather ill"; thinking it's mostly Ruth's hairstyle "which spoils it all"; expressing shock and dismay at hearing of Merchant's recent illness, even though Ruth had already written her about it, and thanking God he is recovering; saying her son Siegbert has just returned with his family from holiday in Vienna, during which he was rather ill; admitting she is "rather dispirited and nervous," between Siegbert's health woes and the unrest in India, "Ruth's adopted country," which she hopes will all improved during her upcoming holidays; sending love to both of them and wishes for Merchant's "speedy recovery."
