Telling Ruth they are both in Dinuba, Ivory having shown Merchant the Christmas lights around town, which reminded him of Diwali; telling the story of how Merchant, looking for a doctor on Christmas Day, accidentally walked in on a family opening Christmas presents; thanking her for the kurtahs she sent for him and Merchant, and for her telegram; enclosing a clipping of photos of Dilip Kumar; discussing possible casting for the "Ustad" film-- Saeed, Jennifer, Madhur, Praveen Paul, Tom Courtenay, James Fox; passing on his impressions and anecdotes about Indian musicians like Ali Akbar Khan, Vilayat Khan, Ravi Shankar, and Rais Khan; recounting a particularly amusing story about mediating a dispute between Ravi Shankar and record producer Dick Bock; enclosing a letter from Merchant's sister Rashida Bootwala "which you will enjoy"; saying in a postscript that he liked everything she wrote about the "Ustad" film, and updating her on the box office for "Shakespeare Wallah" in London.
