Summary
Saying he shouldn't be writing to her today, he should be doing the jobs Ismail has left him, but he is choosing to write "letters which will give me pleasure and not the other kind," and go to movies and even a gallery or two; describing in fine detail the cuts they are planning to make to "Shakespeare Wallah" to reduce the running time; lamenting the amount of money spent on shooting material which is now no longer being used, and vowing to never make a film longer than 90 minutes ever again; presenting "a big piece of news"-- Fox has agreed to finance "Esmond in India" if they can get James Fox to star; describing the payment she would receive for her involvement in developing the script; telling her about an offer to make a segment of a "New York anthology," which he plans to start work on in January; telling her he likes her idea for a story and she should develop it while he works on a new idea of his; describing a wild dinner party held by one of Ismail's "budi's [sic]" where they (he, Merchant, and Madhur) met Federico Fellini and Giulietta Massina-- "like some inferior la Dolce Vita."
