Summary
Confessing that she has been "questioning" Pinchoo Kapoor and Mohamed Shafi (assistant director) about the "Shakespeare Wallah" rushes and they have told her that both Ivory and Mitra (cinematographer) are happy with them; relating that she was also told that the crew were disappointed when they met Madhur, but now that they've seen the rushes, they understand why she was cast; saying she has also hear that Pratap Sharma's acting is fine, but Foo's (Felicity Kendal) cheeks are swollen; admitting she and her family will probably not be able to visit them in Simla, but hoping to come when the company moves to Kasauli; relating to Ivory how well "The Householder," now playing in Delhi, is doing; describing her and Jhab's visits to screenings of both the English and Hindi versions; enclosing a letter from Gardner Stanbridge "for your amusement" and describing how she answered it; limiting further observations to saying she is glad "Shakespeare Wallah" is partly from the English point of view; she will never again write a screenplay alone; and she hopes Ivory is editing and cutting the script during shooting as needed, particularly when the limitations of an actor-- such as Sharma or Mrs. Kendal (Laura Liddell) require it.
