Summary
Updating Merchant and Ivory on a scheduling problem with Gardner Stanbridge for "Shakespeare Wallah," which is not as big as they'd previously thought; describing a problem-- passed on by Catherine-- with arranging a screening through Columbia (possibly of "The Householder"?), where Columbia is being predictably unhelpful, and asking Merchant and Ivory what to do; requesting that they send a copy of the script for "Shakespeare Wallah" as it is; thanking them both "for looking after Poji and me so well in Bombay"; passing on Jhab's thanks as well; saying in a postscript that Nirad Chauduri has found a publisher-- "Thank Heaven"; describing a moment on the flight home when "a vast pile of wooden trays came crashing to the floor just behind me," startling even the "strong Germans next to me .. so I needn't tell you what wild imaginings leaped into my heart"; passing on information from "Mrs. Tayebbhar, Madhur's sister" that Madhur is not expected to arrive on the 9th of September, but that she will be leaving New York on September 1 and staying some time in London with another sister, so her expected arrival will be more like the 10th to 15th of Spetember, but "no one knows anything for sure"; signing off with "Jhab is trying to find out about a jeep."
