Summary
Opening by wishing Ivory a happy Eid-al-Adha, and acknowledging the cables he received from Ivory and his father, including one with good news about the Columbia affair; saying he immediately called Ruth and Jhab to tell them the news; saying Mr. Dutt of the Finance Ministry will be coming to Bombay soon to speak personally to the people at the Reserve Bank; telling Ivory that they are all "anxiously awaiting your arrival," and "Shashi and Jennifer are very happy"; relating that he spent the day with Shashi and Jennifer and they saw the film "Lilies of the Field" together, it being Merchant's second viewing-- "it was marvellous"; offering condolences for the death of Ivory's uncle and a sort of apology for writing in his last letter that he would not write to Ivory any more-- "that was just frustration and anger ... never can I pass a day without writing you or thinking of you... please forgive me"; saying they have heard from the MPEAA, and that when it is time to restart the publicity campaign for "The Householder," Shashi is willing to fund it.
